Brewers are finally #1

Posted on Wednesday 31 August 2005

SI.com analyzes which ballparks offer the best value. No surprise here, the Brewers come out on top. See where your team ranks. Here’s my favorite passage from the Brewers Fan Value Index Page:

The ‘hood here is merely an asphalt sea — but it plays host to the greatest tailgating scene in all of Major League Baseball. College-aged Wisconsinites huddle around coolers and pledge their support for Miller products; adults kick back in lawn chairs, grilling meats and swigging MGDs, while their law-abiding kids play catch and have conversations like this one, which I can attest to overhearing in May:
Thirteen-year-old to his friend, while both excitedly observe a nearby tailgate party: “Dude, those guys are getting plastered.”
Friend: “If you want to see plastered, just wait ’til I’m 21.”

Pearl Jam in Seattle?

Posted on Wednesday 31 August 2005

I doubt I have any readers in Seattle, but you might want to drop the $8 to see OK GO and the Redwalls tonight. Rumor has it that Pearl Jam will be opening the show at the Crocodile Cafe. You can buy tickets here.

First ever Muzzle of Bees compilation

Posted on Friday 26 August 2005

I was thinking after Mallie at South of The Mainstream set up a surprise mix CD from her readers what a good idea that was. So, I decided to bring something similar to you guys. Here is what I’ll need:

1. Submit a comment (please don’t say what song you are submitting) on this website saying that you’ll be participating. Once I receive 14, I will close the submission process.
2. E-mail me an MP3 of a song that you would like to see included on the mix. I’m going to cap the number of songs at 14. Along with the MP3 please include your mailing address.
3. If you don’t make the cut, or just plain don’t feel like contributing, you can send me an e-mail requesting a copy of the Mix. I will post the track list when it is finalized.
4. Don’t worry about sending me a blank disc or postage, I’ll cover all that.

So, fellow bloggers here’s your chance to contribute. I’ll make sure your blog gets mentioned along with the song you submit. This should be fun, now send me those submissions!!!

Now here is a random picture of Jessica Alba because it’s Friday.

Vegoose Additions

Posted on Thursday 25 August 2005

Sorry for the lack of posting, work is really getting the best of me. Good news, there are new additions to the Vegoose line-up:

» Beck
» Sleater-Kinney
» Devendra Banhart

Here is the low down on some of the late night shows. I’m going to be taking a pass on these unless something better comes along. Otherwise, the casino will be calling my name. Make sure to click the “more” link at the bottom of this post to view the late night performers….

We are also pleased to announce the Vegoose at Night Concert Series, including special performances by Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Galactic and STS9. In addition to their performances at Sam Boyd Stadium, Widespread Panic, Ween, Trey Anastasio, String Cheese Incident, and Phil Lesh & Friends with Ryan Adams will also headline special nighttime events. The Vegoose at Night Concert Series performances will be separately-ticketed shows that will take place on Friday and Monday nights, as well as after the stadium performances end on Saturday and Sunday at such venerable Vegas venues as House of Blues, The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, The Aladdin Theatre, The Orleans Arena, and others. Nighttime shows will run for four nights, from Friday, October 28 to Monday, October 31. An initial listing of the Vegoose at Night Concert Series is below.

Breathe Me….

Posted on Tuesday 23 August 2005

I’ll admit it, I’m a 6 Feet Under fan. If you saw the final episode and want an MP3 of the song (Sia - Breathe Me) that played while Claire is driving to NYC, then head over to Stereogum. You can read Ruth, Keith, David, Federico, Brenda, and Claire’s obits here.
