The New Pornographers – Twin Cinema

I was all set to see The New Pornographers play a show at the Barrymore Theatre here in Madison when one of their members needed an emergency appendectomy. At first there was a promise to reschedule the show, but now it looks like that may not be the case. That’s too bad, because at the time I was listening to “Twin Cinema” a couple times a day. There is something so great about the melodies on this record.

I think had that Madison date not been cancelled there is a good chance this album would be a lot higher on my list. That’s usually what catapults a good record to a great one for me. I usually see or hear things during a live performance that I may miss during my initial listens, and I usually get hit with, “So that’s where that sound is coming from.”

This is a great album start to finish, with an All-star cast of musicians. If you have been waiting on checking it out, wait no more.
