Last week I wrote about Michael Stipe joining Coldplay for the televised version of Austin City Limits. The show aired this past Saturday, and not only did they collaborate on “Nightswimming,” but also on Joseph Arthur’s “In The Sun.” The former features Stipe on all vocals, but is begun with the proclamation, “This is the best song ever written,” by Chris Martin. I’ve posted the MP3’s below, enjoy!

I am SO glad you posted these…I watched it on Saturday night and thought it was great, and was hoping someone would put it up this week. Especially “Nightswimming”, which is probably one of my favorite five songs of all time.

btw, Peter Gabriel (who sort of “discovered” Joseph somewhat, and signed him to his label) covered ‘In The Sun’ as well on the ‘Diana, Princess of Wales Tribute’, pretty interesting take on it.

Thank you so much…I have been listening to Joseph Arthur’s version of In the Sun ever since I saw Michael Stipe and Chris Martin’s performance. It is a great song, and his acoustic version is very good too, but the Austin City Limit’s Performance was unbelievable and I am so glad to have it on mp3 now. I have watched it on my DVR like 20 times.

Two of my favorite voices ever. I have been a Michael Stipe since 1981 when I was 11. So nice to see the link between the past, the present, and the future. Thanks for posting these.

I’ve never heard of Joseph Arthur until I saw Stipe and Coldplay performing “In The Sun” on ACL. I love that song!It’s one of those infectious tunes that I cannot get out of my head. I’m definitely going to check in to more material by Joseph Arthur.

Caught the Austin City Limits show late last night with Coldplay and Stipe and loved these 2 songs..they were amazing. Thanks so much for the songs, they’re fantastic.
