I have this album and Sony to thank for installing a root-kit on my computer. That aside, this is one amazing album. The first track that really stood out for me was “Off The Record,” which is one of my favorite songs of the year. After multiple listens I grew to love “Z” as a cohesive unit of songs that blend into each other seamlessly. I’m not sure where I would rank this album in the My Morning Jacket catalogue, because I’m a big fan of their previous releases as well, but I do know that this was an amazing album that will expose My Morning Jacket to the masses.

Off the Record was the first song that stood out to me as well. I dig that one, but I can’t get past James’ distant vocal mix – that’s one thing thats always stood in the way of me being able to listen to a band that, by all accounts, I should absolutely love. Oh well.
