Feathers
feathers.jpg
I just got my hands on Feathers self-titled album, and I think that fans of freak-folk will find it pretty pleasing. The cover art for this album bears strong similarities to Devendra Banhart’s Cripple Crow album. Here is what Indieworkshop has to say about it:

This album is a transmission across space and time. It’s a platter of sweetly familiar tunes. These songs feel so delicate and pretty, like a warm summer afternoon, lounging in the bedroom you grew up in. It honestly feels like I’ve known some of these songs my entire life. Feathers’ music is the sound of losing your virginity on Christmas morning and toasting the world with a warm glass of cheap champagne. When is the last time you heard an album that made you want to hold hands with someone?

That was good enough to get me to check this album out. I’ve posted an MP3 below for you, let me know what you think of the track.

Feathers – To Earth His Own (MP3)

You can purchase the self-titled album at Neighborhoodies.com

BONUS MP3:

Devendra Banhart – Little Monkey/Step In The Name Of Love (R Kelly cover)

This is from a special vinyl only release of 10 songs. Half of the songs by Devendra and the other half by Jana Hunter.

I was lucky enough to see Feathers when they played Philly back in the summer, and they were amazing live (you can definitely hear, at points, the fact that some members in the band play in a heavy metal side project); apparently the CD of the debut album’s coming out on Gnomonsong in March…
