Tonight’s the Night.

Tonight the Barrymore is offering a great triple bill:

The New Pornographers/Matt Pond PA/dios (Malos)

Tickets for tonights show are sold out. If you dragged your feet on getting tickets my best advice would be to check here often.

I can’t make the show tonight due to a death in my family. Please let me know how the show was.

In less depressing news I am very excited about seeing Voxtrot on Saturday night at Journey Music here in Madison. This is a venue that I’ve never been to. I’m also thinking about making the trip to see the guys in Milwaukee on Sunday, but I’m hoping their performance makes that decision for me.

Thinking about checking out Voxtrot, but don’t know their sound?

Voxtrot – Mothers, Sisters, Daugthers, & Wives [mp3]
Voxtrot – The Start of Something [mp3]

UPDATE: Head over to Gorilla vs. Bear for MP3’s of Voxtrot’s WOXY performance.

I guess you heard about Voxtrot’s show last Friday here in Dallas?

Pretty great show — Dios (Malos) in particular impressed me. The NP’s mix was really weirdly trebly for the first couple songs, but then it seemed to total down and they played an enjoyable set roughly balanced across their three albums. Not-Neko was no Neko, but I think she was about as good as one could ask for.

Those Voxtrot MP3’s have me thinking about going to that show, free time permitting. I was already thinking about going to see the M’s at the Rathskaller, but they might have to get bumped.

The show was pretty good last night, I agree. Not having Neko in the mix didn’t really make a difference at all and I thought that it would. Matt Pond PA was good too. Didn’t see Dios (Malos) because I was too busy drinking pitchers at the Harmony.

I talked to AC Newman for a couple of minutes after the show and he seemed pretty nice. We also sat at the table next to all of the New Pornographers at the Weary Traveler once they were done at the Barrymore. They seemed to be enjoying themselves there. A good time was had by all.

I went to the Journey music for the first time last week to see a friend’s emo band. I felt like the oldest person there at 25 since crowd consisted of mainly high schoolers. I don’t know if that was because it was an emo show, or if that is the nature of the place. It serves pizza upstairs, but not beer.

i was very satisfied after being pretty bummed about the New Pornographers Neko-less. i think not-Neko did a GREAT job of filling in for Neko, ive also never seen the real thing live though. whatev

    Hey man,

I probably won’t be able to make it down to madison because it’s one of my best friend’s birthdays that night. Plus it’s state wrestling this weekend so it’s gonna be insane in Madison for parking and what not. Let me know how the show is though.

where can one find the .FLAC or .SHN? i’d like to D/L the show without sacrificing compression to .mp3.

thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
