EJ's posts are always great, well-written and thoughtful, just like his responses . . . and, I'm always jealous of folks who actually listened to decent music when they were kids.

You're very welcome, Ryan. It was actually a lot of fun to answer your questions. They made me think about things I had probably long since forgotten.

One concert I forgot to mention:

Nirvana, Seattle Center X-Arena, January 8th, 1994 -- This was to be Nirvana's last American show ever. My partner-in-crime at the time Chris Vanderbrooke had the hook-up on backstage passes for the show. I begged and pleaded with him to let me come with him. He kept saying, "Naw, man, I mean...I can't..." I said to him (and he can verify), "Please, Chris. I really want to see Nirvana before Kurt dies." There was an awkward silence on the phone before he laughed and said, "Oh, yeah..shit, ok."

After the show, the band was coming off stage. Kurt actually came up to me and hugged me, possibly mistaking me for Dan Peters of Mudhoney (we both had the same reddish curly hair at the time). Realizing we didn't know each other, he was still friendly. Krist comes walking up behind him and was mumbling, "To be....um, to be...to be or not to be...isn't that the question?"

I looked him square in the eyes and finished the quote. "Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them. To die..to sleep..no more..."

He looked at me with the most empty, sweat-covered stare and said, "Yeah, that's how it goes," and walked off.
