This Friday I will be heading to Chicago to check out The National at the Double Door. One of the opening bands for this show is Talkdemonic. The nice coincidence here is that I just received the Talkdemonic album, Beat Romantic in the mail, and to my surprise I’m actually digging it quite a bit. The reason for my surprise is that I normally don’t dig electronic music too much, with a few exceptions. I guess I should clarify what I mean by “electronic.” This album in no way makes you reach for the glowsticks and a pacifier. Think Prefuse 73, but with a violin and banjo. A solid listen all the way through from start to finish, I didn’t find myself bored with the abcence of vocals as I sometimes do with albums like this.

Chris from Gorilla Vs. Bear posted on this same band yesterday, so you know if he’s diggin’ it, that it must be worth your time. He’s also got an MP3, so my best advice is to take both of ours and check out Talkdemonic.
