Today is the release of the new Drive By Truckers album, A Blessing and a Curse. I’m happy to offer up a copy of this album as a contest to my readers. I can definitely say that this is one of my favorite records so far this year, and it continues the great run of albums by this band.
In order to participate in the contest please provide a comment below telling me the last album you purchased. A winner will be chosen at random on Friday afternoon.
Please make sure to catch the Truckers on tour, I’m looking forward to their performance at the Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee on May 18th.

Woooooo first comment. Being up this early does have it’s advantages.
Last album I bought was The Old Soul (band from Toronto) although I’m going to pick up the Sweet/Hoffs album sometime this week.
Keep up the good work and thanks.
Last album I bought was Ray Wylie Hubbard’s “Dangerous Spirits” after seeing him live. Album before that? Drive By Truckers “Dirty South.”
Josh Ritter – The Animal Years
Irving – Death in the Garden, Blood on the Flowers
yay!
I picked up American Water by the Silver Jews before the concert on Saturday. Excellent album.
I bought the High Dials “Wars of the Wakening Phantoms” at the Neko Case show (they opened). It was my first time talking to a band after a set and they were really cool kids.
Most recent purchase was Fox Confessor Brings the Flood by Neko Case while at her concert in Milwaukee. Also picked up Jesca Hoop’s demo cd from her website.
recently bought the flaming lips new cd for my little sister…awwwwww
The Subways-Young for Eternity.
I needed something loud and upbeat, which my recent cd purchases were lacking.
Band of Horses – Everything All The Time
&
Josh Rouse – Subtitulo
Hem – No Word From Tom (on An Aquirium Drunkard’s recomendation)
Tapes n Tapes – The Loon and the new Flaming Lips
Mono: You Are There (it’s okay, i guess.)
The last album I bought was:
Morrissey – Ringleader of the Tormenters
Soledad Brothers – The Hardest Walk
Heartless Bastards – Stairs & Elevators
The last one I bought overall was something “The It Girl” by a band called Sleeper, which I found for 50¢ at a thrift store and thought it looked interesting, but I haven’t listened to it yet. The last I bought new were the two in-print Heligoats CD’s, at the Indie Coffee show.
Paul Siebel, both his CDs;
Jerry Jeff Walker, the best of;
(I’ve been on a old country kick lately)
oh, and the new Voxtrot EP, they played a good show in Chicago this past weekend
Crashing The Ether – Tommy Keene
I picked up Why? “Elephant Eyelashes” after their set on Saturday night. I have only listened to it once, but it is intriguing. And in an hour or so I will have “A Blessing and a Curse” unless B-Side is out. So I guess I should withdraw my name from contention, shouldn’t I?
I ituned “You in Reverse” by Built To Spill.

Last album purchased was Chrome’s “Anthology 1978-1983″

Yesterday I picked up Calexico “Garden Ruin” & ALO “Fly Between Falls” great stuff on both
Ummm lets see, I haven’t been able to work album purchases in my recent budget because I have not gotten a financial aid check in a while. So i think the last album I bought was “The Greatest” by Cat Power.
