Milwaukee’s Summerfest begins today.
Summerfest.jpg

Summerfest, “The World’s Largest Music Festival” kicks off today in Milwaukee. The festival runs until July 9th, and features bands like Andrew Bird, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Mike Doughty, and many more. I’ll be heading to the festival tomorrow to check out Pearl Jam and Tom Petty and the following day to see Paul Simon.

I saw Pearl Jam for the first time at Summerfest in 1995, at the time they were my absolute favorite band in the world, and it still ranks as one of my most memorable concerts of all time.

Kings of Leon, My Morning Jacket are on my agenda! Summerfest is the such an underrated “festival”… no camping, but, honestly, why should that be a requirement?

kings of leon are one of the most underrated bands right now…they are brilliant and get no credit since the release of their second album, much like secret machines…

I saw Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint last night & the show was pretty cool. Complete with a New Orleans horn section, much of the show was politically centered around the theme of how our government just totally abandon the City of New Orleans.
I also caught a few songs from Keane. Not bad. They really brought the kids out. -makes for great sight lines when most everyone is like a foot shorter than you.

It’s funny to see who the HS kids are into… I remember being surprised to walk into the end of Ben Folds last year and see a really young crowd.. I would have thought he skewed older, given most of those kids where probably only cognizant of Rockin’ the Suburbs… but they were all really into it.

    She’s a brick and I’m drowning slowly…
