Catfish Haven – Tell Me
CATFISH HAVEN PREPARE FOR FULL-LENGTH DEBUT ON SECRETLY CANADIAN;
CHICAGO TRIO APPLIES SUNSCREEN FOR LOLLAPALOOZA APPEARANCE

While Chicago-based trio Catfish Haven await the September 12th release of Tell Me, their full-length debut for the Indiana-based Secretly Canadian Records, the band is also readying for their appearance at this year’s Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago.

After the success of their critically-acclaimed EP, Please Come Back, (praised by Pitchfork, Harp, Salon, Magnet, CMJ and Spin), released in early 2006, also by Secretly Canadian, the band hit the road for the first half of the year before heading into Chicago studio Four Deuces with engineer Graeme Gibson.

Childhood friends, singer/guitarist/songwriter George Hunter, bassist Miguel Castillo and drummer Ryan Farnham, aka Catfish Haven create a sound steeped in Southern soul and American rock n’ roll. As Spin has said, “Catfish Haven’s blues-infused ballads and boozy trots possess equal amounts of backwoods authenticity and cosmopolitan flair… They bleed metropolitan with undeniable garage-grime charm and power-pop arrangements…” Toronto’s Now agrees, “George Hunter has clearly been schooled on deep Southern soul, and his pals Miguel Castillo and Ryan Farnham make for a righteously tight rhythm unit. These boys have got it.”

After playing in various local outfits, Hunter, Castillo and Farnham formed Catfish Haven in 2001 to play honest rock and blues-inspired songs. The trio has shared the stage with the likes of My Morning Jacket, The Hold Steady, Okkervil River, Black Angels, and The Pink Mountaintops.

Catfish Haven will tour in support of Tell Me, but first stop is Chicago’s Lollapalooza in Grant Park on August 6 from 12:30-1:15pm on the BMI Stage
