The Slip - Eisenhower
final_eisenhowercover_small.jpg

I can remember hearing about The Slip before. They always were brought up in jam circles, so I was kind of quick to dismiss their music as something that would be boring or uninteresting to me. I decided to give their upcoming album, Eisenhower a play for a couple of reasons. First, there was a llama on the front of the album and second because the name of the album is reflective of a President whom I always admired as a child and still to this day.

Make no mistake there are times when you can tell that this band is completely capable of jamming out and sending you into another level/plane/conscious state or whatever else hippies are trying to achieve these days. The great thing is that is where the band stays, right at the fringe.  Eisenhower, due November 7th on Bar/Non Records is a satisfying disc through and through. The second song, “Even Rats,” was special enough to warrant a couple of repeat listens this morning. At this time head over to their myspace site to check out a few of the tracks they have to offer up.

I’m curious to see how this album translates into a live setting when The Slip plays at Cafe Montmartre along with MoB favorite The Lovely Feathers on November 21st.

“Even Rats” is one of the unlockable, non-famous songs in the first Guitar Hero game, and is my favorite of the bonus songs.
