Last week we announced that Joanna Newsom would be playing a free show at the 770 Club at UW-Madison. The good news is that the show will still be taking place, but has moved to a better, and more appropriate venue. Since I posted the initial information I’ve gotten a nice update from Danny who is putting together the Madison Pop Festival. Thanks to Danny for the update, and here are the details:
This show has been moved to the great hall of the memorial union–obviously a much more appropriate venue. Opening will be smog, ambulette, and the bracelets. the concert is part of a larger event called the Madison Pop Festival….Other bands playing over the course of Dec. 8-9 are Brother Ali, Yawo, Chin Up, Chin Up, Hockey Night, Maps and Atlases, Wax On Radio, Sleeping in the Aviary, Mason Proper and Brighton MA. More to be announced soon.
Oh yeah, Joanna’s album Ys drops tomorrow and got a 9.4 on Pitchfork today. Buy that shit!

I saw her last night at Webster Hall. She had a five-piece band and played Ys all the way through. It was a good show.
