Re: Giving the first album another chance: If you ever get a chance, listen to the two EPs that proceeded “M-EM,” “Walnut Whales” and “Yarn and Glue.” The include many of the first album’s gems (a cliche word, but so a propos), but sparely, just voice and harp. I think the first album is amazing (in many ways, preferable to “Ys” for a popster such as I), but the production gets in the way sometimes.
