All it took was Ryan at Catbirdseat to put Frightened Rabbit as one of his top three albums of 2006 for me to get interested. Containing 10 tracks, Sing The Greys is a steady listen from start to finish. The band hails from Glasgow and has yet to touch down on US soil for a tour or a record release.
The fourth track “Yawns” includes a chorus of, “she yawns because she’s bored, he yawns because he can’t sleep anymore,” stands out over a pounding bass line. I’m hard pressed to find an adequate comparison of musical style, but on certain songs I feel the singer is somewhat akin to Wolf Parade or Sunset Rubdown however their musical styles don’t offer such similarities.
You can download the highly recommended MP3 for “Go Go Girls” in this post from Music for Robots.

They’re pretty good live too
Aahhh… this has made me quite homesick. Just moved here from Glasgow a couple of months ago and missing Glasgow’s wonderful bands.
Good to see some of the “local” talent being talked about “across the pond”!

i’m absolutely loving these guys too. but “go go girls” didn’t do it for me. the rest of the album is so much better… and yes, the lyrics get pretty amazing at times.
