I totally understand your mixed feelings on doing these type of lists. On the negative side, it is such an potentially incomplete picture of what was good that will probably leave out many worthy inclusions. I mean, unless you listen to every album, and spend all of your time (every day, minute, and second), you are probably going to miss a few.
These type of lists provide a snapshot in time, what you liked in 2006, and time will show you the wisdom of those choices. For me, it's more about sorting through what I bought this year, then eliminating what I don't care to listen to anymore, and what I do, mixed with a little projection as to which albums I think will stand up to time.
You are right about the "Clipse" factor. So many lists I've seen are weighted more heavily to the last quarter of 2006.
Anyway, good luck with your list(s).

Thanks for the interest. I've gone over the reasons for and against doing a best of list, but settled on doing one. Mostly, it takes a lot of time and I want to spend some time revisiting albums I listened to a lot in the beginning of 2006.

With that being said, I'm going to take every day, minute, and second in drafting my favorite albums, songs, and concerts and hope to bring you the first of those lists on January 9th.

That doesn't mean you should expect huge write-ups, I just want to not jump to conclusions and put something that was just released (Clipse) on the list just because I listen to it a lot right now and not something released earlier in the year (Belle & Seb).
