Sonya Cotton has garnered the attention from some well known blogs in the past, so it’s best you sit up and pay attention. Sonya was unknown to me until her recently released album Out Of The Ocean showed up in my mailbox. Since that time I’ve grown fonder of this album with each listen.

This album has the ability to be both delicate and powerful at the same time, but also allows each emotion to stand in the spotlight on it’s own for a little while. There had been a pretty big void in my record collection recently by the beautiful and tender voice of a female songstress, and Out Of The Ocean fills that void perfectly. The lack of snow here in Wisconsin prevents me from really feeling like I’m smack in the middle of the winter season. This album is highly recommended for cold and snow filled mornings, days and evenings.
