We Like: Fujiya & Miyagi

Sometimes it seems takes an army of people to get me to check out an album. I’d read plenty of people say great things about Fujiya & Miyagi, but it wasn’t until I was in Strictly Discs last night that Spense sold me on it. Expecting crazy Japanese pop music, I instead found driving bass lines and hooks that will spend some time in your head well after the headphones come off.

Transparent Things was released overseas last year, but just got its US release last week on January 23rd. They’re now tops on our list of bands to see while we’re in Austin for SXSW. They’ll be appearing as part of Pitchfork’s SXSW Party on March 16th along with MoB favorites Beach House and many others.

You can stream the entire album from MP3.com right now, but before you do so, even if you have no interest in checking out the album, you have to watch this youtube clip of some dude named Charles dancing to Fujiya & Miyagi’s song “Photocopier.” That’s pure gold boys and girls!

Check out an interview and Mp3 from the album here.
