I took my time making my way to the office today. For good reason though, I was hooked on The Winterpills album The Light Divides, which was released yesterday on Signature Sounds. You’ll find a warm mixture of folk and vocal harmonies that immediately reflect the obvious similarities of Elliott Smith and Sam Beam of Iron & Wine.

There have been plenty of times I’ve lauded albums for their winter appeal/sound, and the Winterpills name is reflective of an aural medicine of sorts. As we continue to shovel our way out of our homes and into our cars here in Wisconsin it helps to have music that fits the landscape of your surroundings and The Light Divides does just that.

The Winterpills are on tour with MoB favorites The Long Winters and will be playing the High Noon Saloon in Madison on March 22nd.
