Gone South: Muzzle of Bees @ SXSW

texaspostcard.jpg

We’re heading to the airport to take in South By Southwest in Austin, TX. Tomorrow we’ll begin our daily coverage, so make sure to check back frequently throughout the day for our updates/ramblings about the music, free beer, and bbq.

Please check out the SXSW related Q&A I did with Madison.com today. In addition to that, I wrote a piece about my desire to have a smaller scale music festival here in Madison someday.

Here’s some MP3′s of bands on the top of my list to see while in Austin.

MP3: Beirut – Elephant Gun
MP3: The Besnard Lakes – And You Lied To Me
MP3: David Vandervelde – Jacket
MP3: Winterpills – Broken Arm
MP3: Ladyhawk – War
MP3: Deerhunter – Cryptograms
MP3: Sean Hayes – Same God
MP3: Micah P. Hinson – Jackeyed
MP3: Girl Talk – Bounce That
MP3: Ox – Miss Idaho

I’m sooo jealous! Please do not miss the High Dials, who’ll be playing the M for Montreal showcase at SXSW at Maggie Mae’s on March 15, at 8:30. If you miss that one, they’ll be playing a few other times there, just check their myspace page:

Their show in DC positively blew me away and War of the Wakening Phantoms (an unfortunate title, I admit) is in my top 5 albums of the 2000s.

I’d also recommend Lee “Scratch” Perry, Field Music, and the Pipettes.

Really digging that Beirut track. Have had it on my shortlist for the last while. Thanks for the the Besnard track, first time I’ve heard it and I’m definitely into it.
