Tuesday’s Gold: What We Recommend #5

Each Tuesday stop by Muzzle of Bees for our recommended purchases for the week. With nothing of interest or to recommend last week, here are the albums we suggest for the release date of April 3rd:

kol.jpg
Artist: Kings of Leon
Album: Because of the Times
Label: RCA
Myspace: Kings of Leon
Download: eMusic
Buy: Insound
MoB: My friend sang/screamed the lyrics to the second song “charmer” constantly throughout our time at SXSW, but somehow that had a positive effect on this album. I’ve always enjoyed these guys’ records because they’re just great rock albums, and this one is no different.

Artist: Idlewild
Album: Make Another World
Label: Sanctuary Records
Myspace: Idlewild
Download: eMusic
Buy: Insound
MoB: I really liked Warning/Promises, but I’m starting to think that this album is my favorite. These guys hail from Scotland and this record brings all sorts of greatness and features guest vocals from Inara George.

Artist: Martin Sexton
Album: Seeds
Label: Kitchen Table
Myspace: Martin Sexton
MP3: Martin Sexton – Beast In Me
Download: eMusic
Buy: Insound
MoB: Long time fan of Martin in a live setting, very few people can captivate a room all by themselves like he can. This album will get a lot more attention once summer comes full swing, as the songs are cheerful and perfect for sunny days. It’s worth picking up for his take on “Will It Go Round In Circles” alone.

i will never understand the appeal of Kings of Leon, especially live

oh, and as a longtime/huge Idlewild fan, while i like this new one, and it’s better than the last one, it’s not even as good as The Remote Part, and nothing they ever do again will touch 100 Broken Windows sadly.

still one of the better UK rock acts live though

the new Martin doesn’t do much for me, but i can’t wait for his show a week from Sat.

I’ve never seen KoL live, and seeing that they’re playing the Rave next month, I’ll pass. Plus, I think it’s the same night as The Hold Steady.

I should check out 100 Broken Windows I guess.
