The Hold Steady: “Hot Soft Light” – Live from Madison

We’re still riding a high from The Hold Steady concert on Friday night. Our night didn’t end when the house lights came up though. We raced across the capital to check out Califone’s show over at the High Noon Saloon. Enjoy what’s left of your weekend, and check back tomorrow for our Califone review.

The Hold Steady – “Hot Soft Light”
Orpheum Stage Door – Madison, WI

Unrelated: If you’re in the video mood and haven’t had a chance to check out the freshness that is the upcoming Beastie Boys record, check this out. Damn, I can definitely get behind that.

Bonus: M. Ward performs “Chinese Translation” on Conan 0′Brien with guests Neko Case and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James.

Great site…I check it all the time. Just wondered what kind of camera you use to capture clips like this. How do you prevent the audio from blowing out? Thanks.

    John,

I use a Cannon G7 – I’ve had it for some time, but have just started to learn how to maximize all the features. The audio quality on videos is captured perfectly on the camera without any additional tinkering on my part.

i have never listened to a hold steady album in my life. true story. tommorow they will be playing here in town, and need to know where i need to start as far as albums….please help!

    Julio,

Right now I’d have to say go with their most recent, “Boys & Girls In America.” It will also be the one they’ll be playing the most from at the show, so you’ll at least be familiar with the majority that way.

    Enjoy the show!

That video clip is insanely good! Looks like it’s time for a camera upgrade.
