Three Days From Now

The Ladybug Transistor release their new album Can’t Wait Another Day June 5th, which you can currently stream in full over at Merge Records. “The album features spirited contributions from members of Aislers Set, Architecture in Helsinki, The Clientele, Jens Lekman, Kevin Barker (Currituck Co., Vetiver), Heather McIntosh (Circulatory System, Instruments) Roy Nathanson (Lounge Lizards/Jazz Passengers) and others.”

We’re admittedly late to this band, but what we’ve heard this morning on Can’t Wait Another Day is pretty great. If you took away all the spaced out oddities that envelope Sonic Youth, you’d come pretty close to this group – at least that’s what we’re hearing today. I guess there’s a little Velvet Underground inspiration sprinkled over their sound as well. Regardless, I recommend you give them a listen.

In a sad turn of events, the group lost drummer San Fadyl last month from complications with asthma. The Ladybug Transistor begin their US tour tonight in Northampton, Massachusetts with MoB favorites The Rosebuds.
