Two Cow Garage - Should’ve California

two-cow-garage.jpg

You come around here often enough and you’ll quickly understand we are drawn to the booze and country tinged rock and roll. A couple of months ago a friend of a friend e-mailed me to recommend Two Cow Garage. I’d heard of the group, but didn’t own any of their records. That changed when I picked up their descriptively titled third release, III.

Over the course of the thirteen tracks with tales about a “Camo Jacket,” “Camero”, and “Postcards & Apologies” the band runs the gamut of whiskey drenched rock and roll. Loud guitar and scratchy vocals join anthems that I can completely picture people singing/screaming along to in a live setting.

Scanning their tour dates the folks in Milwaukee and Neenah are already all over this group, with scheduled performances at Points East (August 3rd) Cranky Pats (August 4th).

Check the track below, then you’ll probably want to go here to make a purchase.

A friend of mine and I saw them in Houston in the middle of the week a few years back by accident. They were playing the same night as a friend of ours. They were really fun to watch. I kept thinking it was like watching Steve Earle playing with Nirvana - tons of energy mixed with alt.country. If you get a chance to catch them live, IMO, they are better live than on record.

I will second the call to see them live. I also rather like the description of watching Steve Earle play with Nirvana. Be sure to go and introduce yourself if you go — they are some of the nicest, most genuine, gregarious guys you will ever meet. Can’t wait for the MKE show and hopefully I’ll make it up to Neenah.

I’m happy to say that I’ve seen them live, twice!! And they’ll be at Cranky Pat’s in Neenah on Aug 4. So I get to see them again.

thanks for posting two cow garage. I had thought that you might like them since you are Lucero and Drag the River fan. We adopted the band since we loved them so much. Thanks for sharing their music.
