Pitchfork Music Festival : The Field

Our second to last show of the festival was more of a laid back experience. We grabbed a seat on the ground and listened as Sweden’s Axel Willner aka The Field did his thing. This set was one that I was really looking forward to as From Here We Go Sublime has been my favorite record as of recent times.

When directing a friend to the album recently, he wrote me back a couple hours later with a response along the lines of, “holy shit, it’s amazing how productive I am at work while listening to this and drinking coffee!” In truth, the album in the daylight, probably lends itself best to background music, but at night, and in the club’s, I am only left to imagine it would be a different trip.

The experience lingered towards the former, the music was great, but there was something lacking in just watching this guy cut it up on the laptop. While certainly enjoyable, all the high points on the album were there, but the combination of nobody dancing and three days worth of festival had gotten the better of us – so we sat.
