The Drive By Truckers bring their act to the Barrymore Theatre with the addition of Spooner Oldham and sans Jason Isbell on Saturday, October 20th.
Isbell was our favorite of the group, and thought he helped the band pen some of their best songs to date, but he’s on to bigger things with his Tuesday’s Gold stamped Sirens of the Ditch. Regardless, we’ll be in the crowd watching the new incarnation of the band as they debut new material.
If the show as anywhere near as great as their stop at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee last year, you kids will be thankful you’ll have all day on Sunday to recover. Although you may want to hedge your bets and give your boss some notice you’ll be dragging that following Monday!

I was at the show in Milwaukee and thought it was (by far) the best venue to see a show…especially these guys. Not sure why they are only playing madison this time around and not hitting Milwaukee again? How can you beat seeing Spooner Oldham with this band!

I believe that this show is going to be a mostly acoustic set. According to their website it’s called the Dirt Underneath Tour. I’m stoked. Their Rock Show is incomparable, but I always like seeing a different side of a favorite band.
I’m also really looking forward to Isbell this Friday. I always thought Cooley’s songs were my favorite’s upon first listen, but usually after repeated spins the Isbell songs would rise to the top. I figure I’ll be seeing you there.
