Californication: Have You Been Watching?

Wikipedia tells us that Californication “is a Showtime 12-part series production created by Tom Kapinos and starring David Duchovny as Hank Moody, a troubled novelist whose obsessions with sex and drugs interfere with his personal and professional lives, as well as the relationships with his ex-girlfriend Karen.”

Yeah, that sort of sums up our thoughts after two episodes. With the Sopranos now finished, where else are we to turn besides Weeds, Entourage (Kings of Leon last weekend) for our favorite acts to distribute music through alternative sources?

Besides the endless amounts of tail, Californication manages to have some pretty great music throughout as well, none better (or more surprising) that My Morning Jacket’s cover of Sir Elton’s “Rocket Man” to close the curtain on episode one.

Head over to Good Vibrato for a download of that.

Other notable artists/songs so far:

Robbers on High Street – “Japanese Girls”
The Doors (Paul Oakenfold Re-mix) – “LA Woman”
The Rolling Stones – “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
Quantic Soul Orchestra – “Pushin’ On”
Ive Mendes – “A Beira Mar”
