Fans of Son Volt, Califone, and Moviola take notice, because here you’ll find your new muse. A couple months ago our blog brethren The Aquarium Drunkard sent over a copy of Travel By Sea’s Shadows Rise, which he’s released on his label Autumn Tone.

Travel By Sea carry the torch of great Americana and folk music. Their sound embodies filled up ashtrays, long drives across the dessert, despair and recollection – yet also a glimmer of hope, a knot at the end of your rope. There’s no desert to cross here in the Mid-West, but running through the twilight recently, with the sun about to rise, this was my soundtrack, and a wonderful way to start a day.
