We Like: Phosphorescent – Pride

phosphorescent.jpg

As I pulled up a spot at Huntington Beach last week, I took a look at my ipod playlist filled with albums I had yet to listen to. I stopped on Phosphorescent’s upcoming album, Pride – due out on Dead Oceans October 23rd.

Coming to me on the heels of some very high praise form good sources, it had an engine of hype to live up to – which it did, and then some. The music is inviting, and, once acquainted, hard to part ways with. On Pride, Matthew Houck has created a delicate late-night album that is perfect for guiding darkness to morning and keeping you in a constant state of lazy, wine-soaked equilibrium.

I would highly recommend this album to fans of Our Endless Numbered Days era Iron & Wine and all fans of Will Oldham and his many incarnations.

Phosphorescent plays the AV-aerie in Chicago on Sunday, October 14th.
