We’re trilled to have Malajube added to the Muzzle of Bees showcase at this year’s Madison Pop Festival on Saturday, November 10th. We first put the band on our radar when our friends at Stereogum named them a Band To Watch. Since that time we’ve grown quite fond of Trompe-L’oeil, which manages to be all over the place, yet works perfectly. We’ll gladly listen to whatever highs and lows this group from Montreal leads, and can’t wait for them to play the MoB showcase.
With the addition of Malajube and the screening of Heima, we think we’ve got good enough reasons (free) for people not to see Man Man and Modest Mouse for the 7th time. Just kidding, we love both bands, and are happy to have great music all over town that night.
So, the Muzzle of Bees showcase this year’s Madison Pop Festival will look like this:
Common Loon
The Selfish Gene
Malajube
Bon Iver
Sigur Rós :: Heima (Advanced DVD Screening)
We’ll have exact set times for you later this week, but plan for things to get started around 7:30/8:00.
Myspace: Malajube
MP3: Malajube - “Montréal -40°C”

Malajube were really awesome at sxsw despite playing a terrible venue; if I weren’t going to be out of town that weekend I’d definitely be seeing them again.
