What started out as a post about Michael Stipe appearing with Bruce Springsteen for a great take on the 10,000 Maniacs “Because The Night” turned into something much more as we continued to uncover other collaborations including ones with Thom Yorke, Eddie Vedder, U2, Coldplay, and Natalie Merchant.

Quick heads-up. “Because the Night” was originally written by Springsteen and Patti Smith(they both recorded versions with slightly different lyrics). The 10,000 Maniacs version of the song has the Patti Smith version of the lyrics.

I don’t know if a video was ever made for it but Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) and Thom Yorke did one hell of a cover of “Wish You Were Here” for Radiohead’s Odds and Sods collection Lost Treasures.
