When Wilco unleashed “Too Far Apart” at Overture Hall here in Madison earlier this year it took me a good minute to figure out what song it was. Having immersed myself in their records, this momentarily left me befuddled until the first chorus. The guitar now a little more distorted, but chugging along nonetheless, Nels Cline has left his mark all over the song with his solo towards the end. What once was just another song on the band’s debut A.M., has now become one of the songs I listen to most when I point my iPod in the direction of Wilco.

Enter the return of rBally, who on consecutive days posted the entire and amazing sounding recording of Wilco’s show at Troutdale, Oregon on August 22, 2007.

With an upcoming five night stint at the Riviera in Chicago where the band promises to “explore their entire recorded catalog and each show will feature a one-of-a-kind setlist” one can only hope that a lot more of their deeper cuts become resurrected as “Too Far Apart” did on their last tour.

With big thanks and a welcome back to Jennings at rBally for the tune, and a selfish hope that someone reading this will have an extra ticket for any night of their upcoming five in Chicago I offer a beautiful version of “Too Far Apart below.”
