One of the greatest albums these ears have heard this decade was Sun Kil Moon’s Ghosts of the Great Highway (pictured above). If you own it, keep reading. If not, go buy it, then come back and finish reading this post. Recently, Billboard.com reported the album would be available on April 1, 2008. Please draw a big red circle on your calendars.
Mark Kozelek’s built his reputation upon the works of the Red House Painters, who have a whole catalog of beauty waiting for you if you’re new to them as well. Under the Sun Kil Moon moniker, he’s consistently put out records containing his interpretations of groups like Modest Mouse and AC/DC.
Now available on Kozelek’s Caldo Verde label is your first listen to the track “Moorstown” from the forthcoming album, April, due appropriately enough on April 1st. Who better than Will Oldham to lend his gentle touch to this upcoming release on two tracks.
Take a listen, let that one sink in and guide you till morning. We’ll talk again tomorrow.
