Feu Thérèse :: Ca Va Cogner

A few months ago I was digging through records at Jackpot Records in Portland and stumbled across the brilliant artwork above. I’d seen it only a few days before here, but spaced it and forgot to check out the music. Time got the best of me that day and the album didn’t make it home with me from the West Coast, but the artwork never left my mind. After spending a good portion of the past month with Ca Va Cogner, and not understanding one bit of French, I harbor no reservations in recommending Feu Thérèse.

Their preference for synth-heavy and bass structured arrangements has earned them comparisons to 80′s glam rockers like David Bowie. Listen closely to the second track “Visage Sous Nylon” which sounds like Glass Candy found themselves a warm sounding French voice to supplant Ida No. It is in fact the spoken/slow vocal delivery that sets this release apart from all the other bands channeling a couple decades ago.
