Did you brave the cold to catch MoB favorites Bon Iver and Collections of Colonies of Bees last night at Mad Planet in Milwaukee?
The perfect winter conditions to experience the foundation which brought about the lovely For Emma, Forever Ago in Eau Claire during the recording process. As the official release date nears I can’t wait for it to become available on vinyl.
Big thanks to MoB contributor/photographer Daniel Brielmaier for the great shot above. Were you there? Were you loud and talking instead of quiet and attentive? Leave your thoughts/reviews/spells/playoff predictions in the comments.

Yeah. . .definitely a great show. Check him out again in Milwaukee in the spring. He said he’d be back in April.

My wife and I braved the cold to see the show and we were quite happy we did so. My eardrums were blown out during the “Collections of Colonies of Bees” set – didn’t really dig their uber-loud noise rock, which sounded more like noise and less like rock.
Bon Iver, as Justin put it during their set, “rocked my face off”. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Liked when he picked up the electric guitar and went a bit buck wild. Also dug the addition of the extra drums on “Skinny Love”. Enjoyable – I’ll see them again whenever I can.

“didn’t really dig their uber-loud noise rock, which sounded more like noise and less like rock.”
So playing notes and chords = noise? Get a fucking clue dude, and try listening to some music outside of your (obviously very small) realm of understanding.
That little “buck wild” freakout of Justin’s is ok, but broader experimentation isn’t? It’s close minded people like you who are exactly what is wrong with music today.

First off, I came from the Frank Caliendo show and had a blast there, so I had to change gears a bit. I didn’t know what to expect coming to the show and not hearing much from either band. I didn’t really get into Conrad Plymouth, although they had a good sound. CCBs were interesting. I had never seen a live band who was strictly instrumental, I did enjoyed them. Bon Iver sounded really well. It was cool to see them before their cd was on the shelf. The show kept me wanting them to play more. Personally, I liked the mix of bands.
