Mason Jennings joins Rogue Wave as the latest artist to jump on board Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records label. It sure didn’t take long for his deal with Issac Brock’s Glacial Pace (subsidiary of Sony Music) to sour. Oh well, realistically this is a move that is both expected and best for Mason and probably should have been explored years ago when Jennings and Johnson were playing hundred capacity venues together.
Expect a new Mason Jennings record in May of 2008.

I think “Godless” is one of the best songs ever

He needed to get off Glacial Pace because the Boneclouds album was horrid (there could have been an awful pun placed in there). He tried some things a little differently on that album that simply didn’t work for most fans. The influence from the community of artists that Jack’s put together will allow him to be more authentic which I particularly don’t think happened with his last venture. That’s not say Boneclouds didn’t have a few good songs on it (’Godless’ not being on that list), but his sound can now have a resurrection of sorts.
