Our from the crowd feature shares some our favorite past concert moments captured in video (albeit sometimes shakey and out of focus). Unlike some of our other scheduled features, these videos will be posted sporadically. Chances are you may have been in the audience, if so, please feel free to leave your remembrances in the comments.
The Whigs are a young band with two pretty good records under their belt. In a live setting once those songs are spent in usually means the show is over and it’s time to crawl to the after party. Not the case with The Whigs, who, after tearing through tracks from Mission Control and Give ‘Em All A Big Fat Lip at the Majestic Theatre, returned to the stage for a triumphant encore cover of the Rolling Stones classic “Get Off Of My Cloud.” I’m sure there were some youngsters there who didn’t even recognize the song as decades old, choosing instead to bounce along just as they had all night long. For me it was a great send off seeing this was the first Stones song I ever heard. I went home, found my Stones records, and have been spinning them on the regular ever since.
