As music continues the trend to the digital age the bright spot amongst lost sales and closed up record shops is that people are purchasing vinyl in high numbers again (myself included). Yes, it’s true and I’d know first hand working at one of Madison’s own independent record stores, Strictly Discs. Our store is the place to be tonight for a seemingly endless amount of giveaways and goodies. So bring some cash, buy some records, have some cocktails and support your local record stores!
I polled some of my closest friends today via e-mail for suggestions on what they would recommend to you - some long lost/forgotten gems and a few more recent releases:
Les McCann & Eddie Harris’s - Swiss Movement
Taj Mahal’s - Mo’ Roots
Public Enemy – It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Sebadoh – Bubble and Scrape
Built to Spill – There’s Nothing Wrong With Love
Tribe Called Quest’s - Low End Theory
Shearwater - Palo Santo
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!
Smashing Pumpkins - Pices Iscariot
Wye Oak - If Children
If nothing above catches your interest just peruse Tuesday’s Gold for our weekly music recommendations. Need more suggestions? Head over to Dane101 for interviews with myself, Ryan, Matt & Spense.

We stopped in and watched Juniper Tar’s set at Atomic Records on Saturday. I thought they were really good. What a great way to spend a beautiful sunny Saturday. Thanks Juniper Tar.
