We were still nursing our SXSW inflicted wounds the last time Ladyhawk swung through town to play the High Noon Saloon. Prior to that we caught the group at the same venue behind their self-titled and MoB approved record, cementing the bands as one of our favorites both on record and in a live setting.
Last night was a free show at Club 770, their second show in the city in as many months, but boy was it great to finally hear songs from Shots live. “(I’ll Be Your) Ashtray” and “I Don’t Always Know What Your Saying” were definite highlights of the night, but the song that always gets me is “The Dugout,” they could have probably played the song twice in a row with no complaints from the audience. Though they failed to play my favorite song (“Teenage Love Song”), this set, with expanded catalog en tow, really captured the growth of the band since the last time I saw them. I think they gained some new fans along the way as well.
Was this your first time seeing Ladyhawk? What did you think? Did anyone pick up one of those sweet Chewbacca looking shirts? Did you stick around for Neva Dinova? How were they?
