I'd have to go with Alejandro Escovedo and The National as my favorite two shows at the High Noon. Cracker comes to mind as well....guess I've never seen a bad show there and it's my favorite venue as well. Thanks, Kathy!

To share a good experience (that actually just happened like an hour ago): I realized that I had accidentally bought tickets to the upcoming Josh Ritter show 2x. HNS refunded me for one set with no questions asked... very nice.

As for actual shows - there have been many many... almost all of them "good" but I'm having a hard time coming up with one to call "the great one"... maybe Pedro the Lion? or Local H? or Apples in Stereo? or opening night (good ole' Fastball)?

I'd have to say that Okkervil River's fall 2006(?) performance is the high point of my Madison concert-going life. I'm old enough now that I usually start to fade when a band plays past midnight, but I was wide awake throughout their phenomenal performance, which extended nearly to bar time.

That said, High Noon is easily my favorite venue in town, so every show there is special in some way.

My first time at the High Noon pretty much set the bar. I saw the Drive-by Truckers with Centro-Matic back in October of 2004. It was the first time I'd seen either of them and I came away converted, especially with DBT. I've seen a ton of great shows there over the last four years but I don't know if anything could match the ecstatic memories of that one.
