Now is as good a time as any to start talking about Summerfest, Milwaukee’s lakeside hang that treats you to a plethora of food, drinking, and great live music obtainable in any order you’d like. What I’ve seen of this year’s lineup has me filled with excitement that will warrant more than one trip the city I once called home.

Alejandro Escovedo will play Summerfest on Thursday, July 3rd, bringing with him new material from Real Animal, due June 24th via Manhattan Records. While I’ve yet to hear said record the following quote can only add to my anticipation:

“This is not only the finest album of Alejandro’s career, for me, it’s the album of the year. And I’ll stand on Bruce Springsteen’s coffee table in Steve Earle’s cowboy boots and say that.” – Dave Marsh
