Ahh summer, a time for sunburn, baseball, grilling out, staying up late, drinking more than usual, and enduring days and days of live music courtesy of the plethora of festivals taking place across the US this summer. We’ll do our best to give each festival the MoB touch this summer, below you’ll get a flavor for where we’re going and who we’re looking forward to seeing.
Bonnaroo
When: June 12th – June 15th
Where: Manchester, TN
Highlights: Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson, My Morning Jacket, The Raconteurs, Willie Nelson, Solomon Burke, The Avett Brothers, Orchestra Baobab, Against Me!, Battles, The Felice Brothers, Mason Jennings, Nomo, MGMT.
Summerfest
When: June 26th – July 6th
Where: Milwaukee, WI
Highlights: Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder, Stone Temple Pilots, Galactic, Common, Drive-By Truckers, Thievery Corporation, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Old 97′s, Freshwater Collins, Alejandro Escovedo, Lucinda Williams, Cracker.
Pitchfork Music Festival
When: July 18th – July 20th
Where: Union Park – Chicago, IL
Highlights: Public Enemy, Mission of Burma, The Hold Steady, Animal Collective, Jarvis Cocker, Fleet Foxes, Extra Golden, Spoon, El Guincho, The Dodos, Spiritualized, Cut Copy, Caribou.
Lollapalooza
When: August 1st – August 3rd
Where: Grant Park – Chicago, IL
Highlights: Radiohead, Broken Social Scene, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Kanye West, Bloc Party, The National, Cat Power, Explosions In The Sky, Spank Rock, Girl Talk, Santogold, Kid Sister.
Monolith Festival
When: September 13th – September 14th
Where: Red Rocks – Colorado
Highlights: DeVotchKa, Justice, Neko Case, White Denim, The Night Marchers, The Hood Internet, CSS, TV On The Radio, The Kills, Avett Brothers, Band of Horses.
Austin City Limits
When: September 26th – September 28th
Where: Zilker Park – Austin, TX
Highlights: David Byrne, Beck, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Mano Chao, Band of Horses, Jakob Dylan, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Alejandro Escovedo, Jamie Lidell, AA Bondy, Bobby Bare Jr., M.Ward.

i am muy impressed by the pitchfork lineup this year.
i am muy unimpressed with the 90′s rehash that is lollapalooza this year.
i think the ACL lineup – all the smaller stages – looks the most interesting

Yeah – Silverchair wasn’t too bad (kinda blah for how decent the newest album us), but the Toadies at Lolla this year? I guess it was either them or The Presidents of the USA, right?

lollapalooza has such an awesome line-up – radiohead are probably worth the entrance fee alone, and add Broken Social Scene 9who are amazing live) on top of that and… wow.
i wish i lived in chicago instead of the UK, for once.
