“I’m an artist, a musician, a magician, a writer, a singer; I’m everything. My name is Lee from the African jungle, originally from West Africa. I’m a man from somewhere else, but my origin is from Africa, straight to Jamaica through reincarnation; reborn in Jamaica…”
A monumental figure in the reggae foundation, Lee “Scratch” Perry, now in his seventies, will perform at the Majestic Theatre in Madison on Wednesday, July 9th. If you saw the recent Pitchfork.tv video featuring Andrew W.K, who is producing Perry’s upcoming record, Repentance, you know this show will be just as much performance as it is concert. A must see for so many reasons.

We are honored and humbled to share the stage with such a legend and innovator. This is his first appearance in Wisconsin, and will truly be a night to remember.

I was all set to see the show when I found out it was postponed to Aug. 25, a Monday, and the 1st day of school for many of us in Milwaukee who want to attend. I don’t know who picked that day, but it was not a good choice. Now we have to miss the opportunity again.
