We’ll be returning to Grant Park for our third year of Lollapalooza coverage. The daily schedules were announced today and it’s nice to see the promoters had the heart to not stack anybody else against Radiohead (Friday, 8PM). Seriously, how big will that crowd be?
Last year’s Lolla was probably the best weekend of the summer for my crew, and I expect nothing less this year. I cannot wait to see Broken Social Scene play the same place where I saw them play one of my all-time favorite shows. Check the schedules out below and let us know your conflicts, who you can’t miss, who you definitely won’t be seeing, and your beer cost estimate.

The fest is pretty front loaded. 6 – 8 pm on Friday is going to be a race to see Grizzly Bear, Bloc Party (while also watching the Raconteurs), Malkmus & the Jicks, and then scoring a front row spot for Radiohead. Why isn’t a movie like Multiplicity a reality yet….
I am looking forward to the lion laying down with the lamb with The National opening for Kanye on Sunday!
I think the schedule’s pretty great. Even though I’m most excited about Radiohead, Sunday’s my favorite all-around day (Iron & Wine, The National and a somewhat tough (but not really) choice of Nine Inch Nails over Kanye West. My only decisions seem to involve Wilco: The Go! Team or the short Jeff Tweedy solo set? Wilco or Rage Against the Machine?
This will be my 3rd year making the drive down to Grant Park for Lollapalooza. Friday night is absolutely killing me! The Roconteurs, CSS, Bloc Party and Malkmus all head to head – as Owencafe stated, pretty front loaded. Also was excited to see Santogold perform, as she was on the original lineup but disappeared when the schedule was released. I’m also wondering if they are down one or two stages this year – enjoyed catching DJ Craze and Flosstradamus at the bouncin’ stage with electronic music last year. Also felt as though the early afternoons of years past had more big name offerings than this year provides. Not hatin’, just sayin’. Another difficult decision – seeing the super jammer Chromeo or the rare offering of Amadou and Miriam. Choices, choices, choices.
I didn’t see Santogold either! I think the afternoon’s are a little more sparse and I have a lot of tough decisions to make in the early evening every night. I think the Toadies going on before RATM is too nostalgic for its own good, and not in a good way.
After Kanye’s uncalled for and awkward performance at Bonnaroo, it is clear that Rage is the only choice between these two.
