Forrest Fire released Survival via Catbird Records, and, knowing nothing about the band prior to today, am very impressed. I’ve come to expect that from Ryan Catbird though. The album is made available in some very consumer and pocketbook friendly alternatives: $5 for the album or pay what you want download. However, nobody’s making you decide without a little sampling first. You can stream the entire album here and download the album opener/my favorite track “I Make Windows” below.

No writeup for the Frog Eyes show? They rocked my socks off. The Project Lodge had surprisingly good sound for a cramped, storefront venue.

Glad to hear the show was good. The sound, setting, out-of-the-way location makes the venue completely forgettable for me.

I was at the Project Lodge last night also. Not only was it an amazing show, it was packed and as Dave said, the sound was great! I’m surprised you think it’s out of the way– we walked from downtown and it wasn’t bad at all. I think it’s an awesome, ambitious addition to the Madison music scene, and a cool place to see Frog Eyes. Good energy all around.

Hi uwmryan,
Thank you for talking about the Project Lodge. Yes, we are a small venue, but we have had nothing but compliments regarding the setting and sound quality of our space. Say Hi loved the Project Lodge’s sound, the Black Swans loved the space so much they wanted to move in, and Frog Eyes was eager to promote the space to their booking agent. Not only is the space a hit, but the patrons are great and the bands love having their support. It’s really quite far from “forgettable” for those that participate. If there are specific suggestions you have regarding our space we’d love to hear them. Please come by sometime, we are conveniently located in downtown Madison, WI and our website is http://www.theprojectlodge.com. In regards to the Frog Eyes Show, it was truly great and should not have been missed.
Sincerely,
Kendra

You should strive to appreciate and support small, unconventional venues who bring talented and refreshing acts to madison who otherwise wouldn’t be here. Appreciate what the PL has to offer over the other, larger Madison venues… and, of course, appreciate what they offer as well. There’s something for everyone here. That’s what is so remarkable.
appreciate.

Ummm… Is anyone going to “appreciate” Forrest Fire? This is a band. I don’t know who any of you are (or Ryan for that matter), but I don know that you’re sure jumping all over Ryan for stating his opinion. You’re all either politicians or the thought police. News Flash: People can have different opinions!
Appreciate all the good music recommendations and stop trying to use this site to promote your personal agendas.

Forest Fire is one of the best new things I’ve heard in a long time, thanks for turning me on to them!
