After being wowed by performances from Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend, !!! and The Hold Steady, I opted to play it chill for the remainder of the night and soak in the lessons I had learned from the day to the background sounds of Atlas Sound, Jarvis Cocker and a few songs from No Age. Saturday had been a good day to me. I learned that V-necks for guys must be in style, sunglasses are huge on the cool factor, tattoos are still relevant, beards are massive and the best way to get attention AND your picture taken is to roll around in rivers of mud. If you’re following any of these tips in the presence of hip, up and coming bands and thousands of music lovers, than you’re officially at Pitchfork.
The biggest thing I’ve noticed at Pitchfork that has set this festival apart from all its competing festivals is that the bands at Pitchfork genuinely seem happy to be a part of the activities—smiling and mingling with the fans and not as pretentious and distant as some other acts I’ve seen as of late. Pitchfork seems to be all about having a good time, and this is something I along with everyone else can seem to bite their teeth into.
Now that Day 2’s recap is complete, I’m off to Union Park to check out the goodies of the concluding day. Mostly excited to catch HEALTH, Les Savy Fav, Ghostface Killah, M.Ward, Bon Iver, Cut Copy and of course, my boys in Spoon. See you there!

Long live the V-neck T-shirt! You can nap without feeling choked.
