I saw Brian on his Smile tour at the Overture Center in October, 2004. It was a fantastic experience and one of my all-time favorite Madison shows. They played Smile in it’s entirety as well as several other Brian / Beach Boys classics. A+

I haven’t heard the new album yet in its entirety, but I was lucky enough to see Brian at the Yahoo music/Nissan Live Events taping a few weeks back, and he looked and sounded great. They played a couple of the new tracks as well as some classics. I also saw him at the Hollywood Bowl a few years back which was a great show. My first concert as a kid was the Beach Boys in ’82 and Brian was a real mess at that point, it was painful to see…so it’s gratifying to see him back in a functional and creative state. He’s not at his best, he’s certainly been damaged by the horrible things he went through, but I think it’s very cool and very brave of him to keep going.
