Last night was my first live encounter with Iceland’s Sigur Rós. Pretty powerful stuff. Pretty easy to drift off into dreamland too. It was my first time in the Chicago Theatre, beautiful place. I caught the 5am train from the city back to Milwaukee on little sleep. We’ll be reporting from Austin City Limits over the next four days. Sigur Rós photos and proper review coming tonight. Until then, watch some of the gorgeous videos below. Stunning stuff.

The things this band can do live and the feelings they provoke and emotions they create is mind blowing. Oh and the Chicago theatre is beautiful. The paintings on the ceiling are so detailed and awesome. really added to the whole experience

Saw them for the first time at the Brown Theatre in Louisville in May 2003 - opened with ‘Vaka’ from “( )” and i was simply blown away. One single red light on Jonsi and his Les Paul - rest of the lights come up slowly highlighting the rest of the band and the Amina Strings. The beauty this band conveys live just makes your chest tight. The only thing comparable was seeing Godspeed perform “Moya” - still remains the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever heard live.
And yes, incredibly jealous…

I was there last night, as always a fantastic show. This was the fourth time ive seen them and this wasn’t the best from them I’ve seen, but still surely one of best shows ill see all year. The lack of a string section is noticeable but they did a nice job trying to compensate for it. No doubt, one of those not to be missed bands whenever or wherever they play.

I’m sad I missed them when they were in LA at the begining of October. Im out in London studying and every single UK show is sold out. I’m out here working for Blow Up Records and they have an artists called Baltic Fleet, that I think Sigur Rós fans would really like. You guys should check him out. http://www.myspace.com/balticfleet
