It’s been years since I’ve seen the Eels live – too long. Today marks the release of the deluxe vinyl edition of Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, which “includes 3 LPs of the critically acclaimed album on vinyl for the first time with a fourth disc that is an exclusive 17 track live album, MANCHESTER 2005, recorded shortly after the release of BLINKING LIGHTS. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, the 4 LPs each have their own covers, rice paper dust sleeves, and are accompanied by a hardback book of lyrics and photos, all housed in a beautifully crafted box that is numbered and begrudgingly signed by the author himself, EELS leader E.”
For those interested in getting a digital taste of the live tracks that make up Manchester 2005, the band is graciously giving away a 4-song digital EP. Just follow this link, and drop your e-mail address and a digital download link will hit your mailbox.
In other Eels news, tonight you can tune into NOVA for a very special viewing of “Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives,” which “follows Mark, better known as E, the lead singer of the rock band EELS, across the country as he attempts to understand the fantastic possibility of parallel universes and unravel the story of his troubled family and the father he never really knew—iconoclastic quantum physicist Hugh Everett III.”

That NOVA was really interesting. I had no idea his dad was a renown physicist.
