Comments, texts, and e-mails are spilling in with news that Wilco is performing a Concert For Change concert in Madison on Saturday, November 1st. Wilco’s website confirms the appearance, but not the venue/location. Anyone know where the show will be? Cost? I already voted, did you?
Update:
“A “stripped down” version of the rock band Wilco will perform a free concert at Union Theater as part of Campaign for Change, a Barack Obama rally featuring speakers Sen. Russ Feingold and Rep. Tammy Baldwin on Saturday afternoon.
Three of Wilco’s six members — frontman Jeff Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone — will perform at the event, which begins at noon, according to Wilco publicist Deb Bernardini.”

Rumor has it it will be a daytime show at the Union and free?

I cringe thinking about how early I will have to show up to snag a spot for a free Wilco show at the Union…….

I will be there earlier…oh it’s on!

I’m not disagreeing with you guys, but I would highly doubt the band would play outside at this point of year. If it was outside I would expect it to be a pretty quick set. Rather, I think it will be in one of the venues not in use by Freakfest (so, the Orpheum is out).

It’s going to be fantastic, regardless of time and location. Wilco at the Union… I would weep.

“Free tickets will be distributed on Wednesday at Campaign for Change’s student office, 216 N. Henry St. and at the Wednesday Farmers’ Market on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The Union Theater’s capacity is 1,300.
In September 2007, Wilco’s last show in Madison at the 2,200-seat Overture Hall sold out in one day.
Doors will open in Union Theater, 800 Langdon St., at 11 a.m. Saturday. After the concert, Baldwin will lead a march to the polls for voters to cast early votes before polls close at 3 p.m.

Just got my ticket for the show Saturday. Not sure how many will be left to give out at the Henry St. location. If you’re not a student, it will be tougher to get tickets as they are giving 2/3 of the tickets to students, faculty and staff of the UW.

the concert is open only to UW Students, Faculty and Staff.

@ Badger – that couldn’t be further from the truth. I know of five different people who are not UW students, faculty, or staff that got tickets by waiting in line.
